After law school I started my career as an Assistant Public Defender for the 5th Judicial Circuit. After five and a half years I left the Public Defender’s Office to go
into private practice, where I currently handle Stated and Federal criminal cases at the trial level and on appeal.
I currently handle private cases as well as federal court appointed cases through the Criminal Justice Act (CJA), as well as state appointed cases through the Justice Administration Committee (JAC).
I am a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL), and the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (CFACDL). I regularly participate in these groups.
I have also volunteered with a number of groups for pro bono work. In law school and as an Assistant Public Defender I volunteered with the teen court program, which encompasses high school kids volunteering with the legal system, as part of a diversion program to help juveniles facing criminal charges to get their cases dismissed after completing the program. I also volunteered with the Clemency Project 2014, which was a program to commute the sentences of defendant’s who received excessive sentences a long time ago to a sentence they would likely have received today.
